A few musical gems for you.

June 17th, 2009

Here are 3 songs that really defines my musical tastes when I first started getting in to DJing.  I can honestly listen to this for days on end and not get tired of it.  I had the pleasure of seeing The Chemical Brothers live and it was life altering.  It was honestly one of the best shows that I have ever seen in my life.  The Bassbin Twins lives is definitely something that anybody should go see, especially if you’re in to production and live electronic performances.  The tweaking on the fly and the way everything is put together and mixed in is unmatched.  I don’t really have to say much about Moby, but Go is pretty much the classic of all classics and would destroy a crowd at ANY electronic music event!!  I hope you enjoys these as much as I do.

Moby - Go

The Chemical Brothers - Setting Sun

Bassbin Twins - Two Turntables And A Crate Of Skint

Words of Wisdom Wednesdays - Week 4

June 10th, 2009

This week I have chosen to go with some quotes from musicians that I like.  Incubus & Rage Against The Machine are two of my favorite bands, so using something from Brandon and something from Zack was definitely a given.  The last one is from a hip hop artist that has some of the best lyrics in the game AND is growing in to an amazing actor as well.  Mos Def.

“I ain’t affraid to let it out, i’m not affraid to take that fall, but i found beyond all doubt, you say more by saying nothing at all.”
Brandon Boyd

“Your anger is a gift.”
Zack De La Rocha

“All the things that are worth doing, take time.”
Mos Def

Jay-Z - D.O.A (Death Of Auto-Tune)

I definitely agree with Jay on this one.  Auto Tune has definitely run its course and hopefully we don’t hear too many more songs with the lovely plug-in by Antares.  Either way, the new track by Hov shows his signature style of lyrics and is backed up by a horn filled heavy beat.

Dicey Riley’s Tonight!

June 4th, 2009

Tonight is my usual Thursday at Dicey Riley’s.  A nice Irish bar in the center of downtown Ft. Lauderdale.  Dicey’s has been around for years and brings in some of the best cover bands that South Florida has to offer.  Here are some of the songs that I will be playing tonight.

Rick Springfield - Jesse’s Girl

The Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop

The Proclaimers - 500 Miles

Tenacious D - Fuck Her Gently

It’s going to be a fun night, for sure!

These are some words that I enjoy from a few inspiring people.  Take them with you to help you along your journeys and hopefully they will inspire you as they have inspired me.

“Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.”
Confucius

“We struggle with the complexities and avoid the simplicities.”
Norman V Peale

“Nothing pains some people more than having to think.”
M. L. King, Jr.
